I have some borderline plants that I have a hard time keeping going. I love plumbago but it always dies on me. I bought 3 more this year and put them in pots and was planning to bring them indoors for the winter this time, instead of leaving them out.
I have a friend who puts borderline plants by her door where it is warmer (she says the warm air that escapes when she goes in and out is what does the trick) and she has good luck with that.
Well, it all of the sudden occurred to me - the area all around our hot tub is quite warm! Right up against it is downright cozy. So I am going to overwinter the plants there instead. They will get the rainwater (I am lousy about watering indoor plants) and the heat of the hot tub should see them thru with no problems at all. In fact, I am going to surround that whole area now with 'borderline' plants.
It has only taken me three years to figure this out. I have actually been thinking of putting a cement wall in that same area for warmth for these plants. Duh!

In case anyone is as dense as me!
Good idea!!
I'm with that, cool Idea. ^_^
See, Gwen - you're not dense at all!!!!
Incredibly clever!
Carole! There you are - would love to get together as soon as we can. Check your email too.
