Spinoff of dog food thread - can we discuss cat foods?

Newell, WV(Zone 6a)

My apologies if this has already been discussed, but I thought it would be great for everyone to share their experiences with different brands of cat food so we can begin to see which are the best and the worst brands of cat food. I would like to upgrade Ozzy to a better brand of food but I wanted to hear others' stories of good or poor results with different brands. I usually get his dry food at Walmart and while they have several brands I dont think they carry the really high end stuff. Ozzy is eating the Meow Mix but does break out in occasional itchy scratchy episode that my vet feels is food related. We were going to switch to the venison and pea food, in fact had bought him a 5 or 8 lb bag, but had to return it because of a mass recall - haven't felt quite safe with that option since. I always wet his dry food down - not soggy but moist, to keep him as hydrated as possible. He eats 9-Lives canned food in ONLY the sliced beef flavor and occasionally I can get him to eat part of a can of Ocean Whitefish. he eats 1 can/day plus about 2 cups of dry. His coat is good but not great, he has good energy and clear, bright eyes. I personally think he is on the skinny side but the vet assured me he is in good flesh after his last visit. He is a Maine Coon so he has a huge frame.

So please tell us all your good and bad experiences with different cat food brands! :)
