Caterpillars I.D. needed.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I was outside watching my G.F.'s cats doing their antic behaviors on my many passi vines Maypop. Then I heard noises as if sands were dropping onto dried magnolia leaves on the ground below, as it turned out there were frass dropping from these strange looking caterpillars, never have I seen before in the garden. I looked up, and found an army of these dark looking fellas munching away on Eastern Redbud's leaves. Please help I.D.

Could this be polydamas cats? Will these also use Eastern Redbuds as hostplant?

I found this site and it seems the polydamas cats don,t have stripes like yours.

Thank you, also noted the cats. on my Redbuds also have red prominent heads, where as Polydamas doesn't.

Good morning Paul, it does look like the Prominent Moths' cats. These cats looks as if they're ready to pupate anyday now.
