Deer and dwarf irises?

Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I would like to design a bulb garden that begins very early spring and continues through early summer. I really like the dwarf irises - "Harmony" in particular. Does anyone know if the deer will munch on them? The deer in our area are thick and will try anything at that time of the year!

Also, do dwarf irises spread?

Thanks.

the deer here have not touched them

The only problem with deer I've had is they sometime step on and break the plant going thru the beds. Those culprits caught doing so may be called "steak".

Thanks! I'll go ahead and plant them, then. I'm hoping to mix the dwarf irises with crocuses and then early-blooming and mid-spring daffs. Our area is so bleak from Jan. to March, that I'm hoping a pretty mix of early bulbs will cheer us up.

Any suggestions welcome. I've never designed a bulb garden before!
