"bread and butter daisy"?

Rockport, TX(Zone 9b)

I visited the Natural Gardener nursery in Austin during our evacuation from Rockport. Really nice nursery with demo gardens. There was a field of daisies growing outside the perimeter, and they were referred to as "bread and butter daisies." Does anyone know what these are? My search on DG and Google turned up bread recipes and such. LOL! I was nowhere near enough to see characteristics.

could it have been butter and eggs?

Well, my first thought is no, because from a distance the plants reminded me of sunflowers.

Duh - I called the nursery. It is cowpen daisy (Verbesina encelioides), http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/59964/. The clerk at the nursery gave me some seeds that she harvested on the spot, so I guess I'm good to go!

I planted Cowpen Daisy for the first time this year and it's quickly become one of my favorite plants. I love low/no maintenance plants that butterflies and bees flock to.
