H.affinis and H. guppyi

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Here is the best picture I can take of H. guppyi...it is too high in the tree. Notice the shape of the corollas.

Hoya affinis - the red is not quite as brilliant as the photo...but it is more real red than H. guppyi.

Here are the leaves of H. affinis.

Leaves in the Eriostemma class of hoyas are VERY similar to eachother. VERY!!! cv. Ruthie is the only glabrous leafed one, tho affinis is close. I really can't tell them apart..Ed Gilding can.

Fabulous! Gosh, I'm really loving the red's. They are both beautiful, Carol ... Thanks for posting these pictures!

Do the Eriostemmas have much, if any, scent?.....not that it sounds like you can get to your H guppyi to know.......

If there is a scent it is faint...very faint. H. coronaria is said to have a nice fragrance but the blooms are too high. H. lauterbachii is said to have a bad fragrance...others say not so bad. I didn't find it bad but then I didn't find much in the lauterbachii.

I think H. lauterbachii is aboslutely beautiful ... at least the photo you have in PF is! http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/134884/
