Hurricane Ike.

I'm a little concerned as I have not heard from Smedgkles. Also, JoJoRinger, the girl that found the duck, she was close to Conroe I think. I know Smedge is in Conroe, a place that was hit. If you guys are here let me know you're ok. If not, I'm sending positive thoughts your way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

i haven't either but part of the after effects hit here tonight. we r all safe and sound but we don't know if the worst is through yet or what. it has calmed down alot the last hour or so. i can't believe it's hit ohio and working on here with after effects it was so far away u'd think it wouldn't. all i have to say is it scared the bajeebas out of us i can't even fathom how bad it is for others directly in the path of it.

There is a post on the swap thread that Joey and family evacuated to safe ground. I know Joey had a tree come visit her... then she had her inlaws come visit (while they were fleeing Gustov) Then she and zekey had strep throat and then Ike came to visit her... so she has had a really hard month :( But she did check in with a DGer here and she and kids are safe. She is waiting until it is safe to take her kids back home.... not sure if she has any damage.

I havent heard from moodene or smedgkles ......

Prayers and warm wishes sent your way....let us know if and of you need ANYTHING!

Almost all of East Texas is without electricity, so it may be awhile before we hear anything...We got hit hard here in Ohio too...Many huge trees down and 75 mph winds from about 11 am till 9pm...Shingles gone and some roofs...and power is out in alot of places...We didn't get any of the rain till about 6pm...My yard is littered with branches, and dried leaves off the corn stalks....This was at 5pm...

we were very blessed last night. we went to our friends property where we raise our flock of about 100 + he has his flock of about 50 birds to feed the animals on our way to go grocery shopping. there is also 2 dogs and 2 big pigs.

2 huge pine trees in the yard got winds so bad it ripped roots and all out and slammed the huge pines down with roots in air. it just missed rt 322 where there is a 55mph road right beside. it landed on hot electric wires and when we got there they had 6 electric company trucks there to fix the wires. OMG!!! if they would have fell the other way the way the wind normalsy blows here, we'd of lost both pigs, a shed and all but one coop and run. it would have been devistateing to loose all those animals. i'm sick just thinking of what if.

they r huge and i never thought anything could move them. we only had 30-50mph winds last night i never thought it would be bad enough to crash down whole trees as big as them. thank god he spaired all our babies, i'd of been crushed at the loss and so would my kid's. i even prayed last night for god to protect them cuz i thought the coops would with stand the wind, boy was that an answered prayer. a few of the doors on the runs were broken open but everyone was safe inside, thankfully.

our one rabbit pen here was busted open and we have 3 rabbits now running the yard. i have had to put 5 live traps out to catch them so my cat and the strays don't get them. so far we caught the black rex doe, the one lop doe stayed in the big pen and didn't escape, the dutch is running the yard and the the other lop is cornered in a burrow and only way out is into the live trap to get tomatoes and food. hopefully we catch them all by tonight.

Good luck to you catching them. You must have a guardian angel watching the property!

We are okay up here on the hill north of Dayton as well...alot of damage in town to the trees and roofs...They said 240K without power in the Dayton area served by DP&L...

We never lost it here, but we did lose shingles and that was good timing since the new roof is coming...They are saying we had 80 mph winds, 78 recorded in Dayton, which was a Cat 1 horriblecane with no rain.. but it rained all night after the wind quit about 9pm and was still spitting when I left here at 5:30am...Enon got hit pretty hard too, and Dayton was a war zone with no traffic lights, and people running them and trees downed everywhere... Oakwood has 50 power poles down alone and trees everywhere...Fairborn wasn't too awfully bad, but bad enough what I saw of it...725 into Camden was nasty as was 122 down toward Fairfield from there...They are saying it hit Louisville, KY and came to Cincy then Dayton and veered Northeast to Springfield in Clark County and Columbus then north from there with the severe wind damage...Champaign and Logan counties got it pretty bad, which is us, only 12 miles north of Springfield...No damage other than treelimbs and shingles to the Homestead so we are blessed...

I do hope those without power get it restored soonest, as I know I would be freaked out over losing what food I have in the fridge...There will be a generator here once I get to where I can buy one...

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

we caught 2 and they r back in the ground run so one more to catch yet. u aren't kidding someone is watching out for us that's for sure.

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Good luck Silkie!!! You GO GIRL!!! LOL

**Someone** has definitely been watching over all of us in that storms path...

Clarkson, KY

Went straight up the Ohio River Valley, just like you said. Stuff down all over about 20 mi north of us.

Silkie, just put a little more 'come hither' in your eye and look only at your animals!!

Foley, MO

I'm glad to hear you girls are ok : ) Phew! Now we just need to hear from the other two and we'll know everyone made it through alright.

Conroe, TX

Hey guys thanks for the well wishes. We finally have POWER, yeah!!
We evacuated to my sisters house in Carmine. She is about 90 miles to the west of us. She got high winds too but nothing like we got. We came home last Sunday to check our animals and house. What a MESS, the neighborhood looked like a war zone. Trees all over, even on houses. Our home was okay and all the animals were fine. I was soo happy to see all the chickens fine and alive. We had secured them as well as we could before we left. The pond was out of its banks and about twice its normal size because we had 10 to 12 inches of rain as well as the wind. We went back to my sisters and stayed there for a few days and then got a generator from a friend who had power so we could be home and take care of the animals. The duck by the way went with us to my sisters.
Lost a few trees on the property and one shed was turned over but no trees on the house or the chickens.

Power is slowly coming on here and there. When the power crew was here they told my husband our area was one of the worst areas they had seen yet. We were thinking we may be without power for another week but they got it on yesterday.

We also lost a cat, but not to the hurricane. My daughter had a beautiful calico cat that she has had since she was 3 or 4 so the cat was 6 or 7 years old. We took her with us to my sisters house, which she has been to before, but noticed she wasn't acting right. She also didn't act like she usually would on the car trip there but it didn't register that it was more serious till that evening when I noticed her acting funny. I never noticed her acting out of the ordinary at home so we didn't suspect she was sick. Not sure what she had but she died suddenly while we were at my sisters. My daugher was devestated. The cat was part of the family and we all miss her. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Hope everyone else that was in the path of this storm is okay. I'll also try to post some pictures I took tomorrow.

Glad you all faired well! I was a tad worried....
sorry to hear about your daughters kitty.... I would be devastated if something happened to any of my fur babies :(

Oh, smedgekles. She was beautiful. Very sorry. :(

Here is a picture of some storm damage. A downed tree. Funny how it just sucked the tree out of the ground. It left a smooth domed hole where it sat.

Purrfect pose. Nuttin' like a little kitty therapy.

Glad to hear you are ok! I hope the new kitten brightens up your daughter's day : ) How's ducky?

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

oooh! love the new kitty! what a cutie!

Conroe, TX

It is an adorable kitten. Not sure yet if it is a he or a she but we suspect its a she. I think it has made the loss of Tracy a lot easier for my daughter though she still has sad moments.

Patch the duck is fine. We now know it is a he. He has a curled tail feather. I'll have to get a picture and post it. Sure quacks a lot though.

Foley, MO

Love those duckys!
