WantedRose Cuttings
I have to cut back my roses after the hurricane. Some branches look horrible, but some will also be okay, I think.
I have Belinda's Dream, JFK, Night Owl (climber), Clytemnestra, and Rosette Delizy. I don't know anything about rose cuttings, but I would be happy to send you some for postage if you let me know which ones are best to send. I would like to get out there tomorrow, but can't guarantee that it won't be next weekend.
PLMK if you are interested.
Interested in cutting from all but the Belinda's Dream (have this one)I can send postage just let me know how much? Get to it when you can I know ya'll had a rough time in Houston..We been praying for the state of Texas with the approach of hurricane Ike...Thanks and take care...
Hummingbird, I am going to trim my New Dawn climber when the weather cool down some. It's incredibly hot and humid out today. I did not last long gardening, plus the ragweeds are killing me.
Anyway, I don't know if this is something you would be interested in as ND is a "house eater". You need strong support system for this climber as it will take over your arbor.
JLMK. I will not know cost of shipping until I cut and send because I like to send immediately once I cut. If you should want them, you can reimburse me for shipping. I will let you choose First Class or Priority, it will be up to you.
LiliMerci
Yes i would like some and I wil reimburse you for your shipping
costs...Probably be best to send priority so they dry out to much..Thanks
Hummingbird...Haven't forgotten you. Just haven't gotten to pruning. The branches that were damaged in the storm would not have been good for cuttings. They were beat up pretty bad. I will be pruning in the near future, just not right now. Can you wait?
Thanks.
YES Just let me know when you get to it..Thanks
Hummingbird, you are obviously successful in rooting rose cuttings .. would you care to pass on your technique please?

I can offer cuttings of
seven sisters (once bloomer, another climber)
cl.cecile brunner
cl. clothilde soupert
cl. Pinkie
cl. fairy
the first two are house eaters that do well on their own roots and the others get quite big as well, I'm not sure if your looking for anything that big.
I may be able to find long enough cuttings from
Carefree Beauty
Blushing Knock Out
Mary Rose
Terese Bugnet
Kathy's Find
And I attached a photo of a rose (rose in the foreground) I'm unsure of the name, I think it's Old Blush, it blooms nonstop. Will gladly send some for postage.
If anyone happens to read this and has the rose Geschwinds Orden I'll love have cutting from it :0)
X, From my experience, some rose cuttings are easier to roots than others. The Knock Out roses are so easy, you just stick it in the ground and voila!
I noticed the tea rose are the hardest to root for some reason.
I can send you some cuttings from one. Don't know the variety as it came with the house I bought. I am getting rid of the plant and have someone taking it already, but I'll be pruning it beforehand and will be happy to send you some if you give me your address.
Xeramtheum...I tell a little trick that a lady at one of our local nurseries told me a few years ago...
After you take your rose cuttings(cut on angle) remove all leaves(this the tricky part with all the thorns) dip each in root tone and then place in a square piece of soaked wet foam(available at most craft stores and wal-mart carries it as well in their craft dept..) Just make sure that it is thick enough...The foam stays wet for a while but I water(mist)mine about once a day Do not let it dry completely. Set in shade .. You should see new leaves in just a couple weeks and roots in about 4 weeks.. Hope this helps!!!
