everyone okay in texas?
hurricane
We're okay, but unfortunately, my plumeria didn't do as well. Two of the three stems broke. Can these be rooted? If so, what is the simplest way. I don't root things, so I don't have any special equipment. On the parts of the broken stems that are rooted now in the dirt, there are no leaves left, will these grown new leaves?
Thanks!
that's good that you are are okay. yeah, the broken branches can be rooted. check the FAQ for some simple rooting instructions. it might be more of a challenge to root now that the water is slowly getting cooler. you might need a heat mat. another idea is to pot them up and bring the inside when it gets cold and just let them sit in the warmed place in the house. the part still remaining in the ground will put out new branches. good luck!
I just spoke to Rosemary Miller who wants to let everyone know she is FINE and they are at the moment living in their motorhome with a generator (meaning, a/c, refrigeration, food, water etc.). Of course they lost power but she said they are on a main line to the airport so they hope to have it back on soon. She has had no damage to her home but floodwaters did come pretty close. Some of her plumeria were crushed by two fallen trees but she is not worried too much about it.
Hope the good news keeps rolling in...all of you in Texas are in my thoughts!
Does she need to let the bottom of the broken stem dry or scab over before trying to root? It should be OK without leaves. That's how we all root them in Feb when they are dormant.
