Show us your passi trunk

This is an passi that I bought as p. edulis flavicarpa seeds. I started this one perhaps 5 years ago.
It has edulis leaves but the blooms are solid white and self fruits a yellow fruit.
I put in inside my old aviary one winter several years ago and forgot about it till spring, By that time, the roots had gone through the bottom and I just left it there for awhile. This is what it has turned into.
That is a 1 gallon pot to give you an idea of the base. Guess I won't be moving it anytime soon. LOL
The good thing about it is that it is not root invasive. It has never sent a shoot up from the ground but does have a vine spread of 25 feet so and needs trimming every few months to keep it in check.
Oh, and the scent is divine. When in full bloom, you can smell it up to 30 feet away.

Oh my gosh, that's quite a trunk. I'd never be able to do that in Iowa without a greenhouse. Even then....I'm not sure how much one would grow over the winter.

I first saw that photo it looked likea huge hand coming out of the soil LOL never saw one that huge around at the trunk, WOW!

I just came in from checking out the plants in the area. I knew it put out a large flush after I trimmed it back but I was amazed when I looked up in one area and saw several fruit together. Then I looked a little ways away and saw even more fruit. Looked down the way a bit more and so on. Just standing back and counting the fruit I could see on 3 sides, not including the top that goes over the old aviary, I counted *** 98 *** fruit. EEE gads.

More still. Any good recipes. I'm gonna be up to be ears in passion fruit.

mine is from seed this is the second year I trim and take it inside since I am in zone 5 it siad on the package that it is hardy but it did not say to what zone. does anyone know to what zone a hardy one is good to and it looks like I will need a bigger pot hahahah in a six inch at the moment

Wow Jan.....it seems to be doing real well there for you..... do you feed it...
is there a reason you are keeping the pot attached to it... you've long ago gave up the idea of picking it up with your plant and moving it anywhere... or is this like strange plant tricks..
looking great though.. do you do anything with the fruits.. Gordon

It was a case where I put the pot in there one year when we expected a frost and forgot about it for the winter. Come spring, it had grown through the pot and into the ground. The pot no longer serves a purpose but I just leave it as a reminder. LOL, I do not feed it anything. I daresay, I don't want to know what the root system below ground looks like.
I hope to never have to remove the structure it has taken over but it's pretty sturdy and I plan to convert it to a potting/seedling shed soon. I have tried the fruit but it's a bit tart as it. I have been looking up some recipes on line and found several I would like to try. I have also been told that it will freeze well for future use.

Inside the structure, I counted another 28 fruit and saw more on the vine over the neighbor's grapefruit tree. I do trim in off the tree every few months but it grows back quickly. Fortunately, they hate grapefruit but like the shade.
