I have seed pods

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

On a white brugman hybrid. maybe two. i can't believe it. the little stringy thing that accepts the pollen, does it mean anything if the ends curl up and out after the flower is through, like maybe it is pollinated? thanks

Arlene,

The only way I can tell is when the small seed pod forms. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

There are defintely two small pods, guessing at least an inch long, kinda fat for length. first two i have seen. bunch of other tiny nubs with funny looking hangy things, hoping. the brug with the pods has the most pollen i have found on a plant. fingers and toes crossed.

Congratulations Arlene. I'll keep my fingers crossed too and hope you will get many pods.

Arlene,
I notice that the ends of the pistal-stigma open up to form a split and even sometims 3 times and can curl back on themselves justa bit. This is normal and I notice it most during very rainy weather. Fertilization attempts seem to be exceedingly good during these times. I don't know enough to swear that it is a purely rain induced thing though and I suspect it is not. Can't wait for your seeds to mature. I tried leting a seedpod get flimsy from lack of water and removal from the tree the other day myself. After submerging it in water it regained its turgid nature. Hope this helps in further extending seed maturation in the pod....
