Did you have a lot of Gnats this year?!
They would follow me around in a cloud attacking my eyes, nose and mouth.
Snorting, spitting, waving hands or running around wildy didn't help.
How the heck to you do to control them?
Gnats are driving me Gnuts!
I have run into some swarms of them myself. We live about a block from the Kalalamzoo River and when I walk the dog I run into them there. But otherwise haven't had to much trouble with them. I do the same thing snorting, waving the hands, and trying not to crunch any. YUCK. I am not to much help I'm afraid. Ronna
Are they in your yard, or in the neighborhood in general? For outside, maybe something like this could help? http://www.ghorganics.com/StickyTrap.html
For inside, I've heard this works . . . http://www.ehow.com/how_2049698_build-gnat-trap.html
I had them really bad this spring, but they almost dissapeared when it got dry. I wonder if they will come back with the rains. They were really a pain in the neck as they could crawl right through the screens. I tried spraying the screens with vinagar (which works pretty well with otherbugs), but I think it attracted the gnats. My computer screen would have piles in front of them. They must have bashed their brains out trying to get to the light.
They're in my yard not in the house.
I have no idea if our neighbors have the same situation.
We live in the country and we're spaced apart so not much yakking over the fence with the neighbors goes on.
I have had a lot of gnats this year, too. Early in the day and in the evening they are the worst. I also stirred them up out of the grass when I mowed. I bought one of those over the head screens to wear when mowing, because they get into my mouth and nose and I hate them. When I wear the headgear (which makes me look like someont from outer space) I can just ignore them.
Oh!
Where do you get those?!
they are everywhere here i cant wait for them to GO away
Those bitting ladybug things are here again for fall-hate those things!!
I believe it came from Meijers. My SIL got it for me. I had one of those screen suits that cover the whole top of the body, but it was too hot!
I had to use a head netting to keep them off my face. They do drive you nutty.
I only had them in the early sping

We get those blasted Asian Lady Beetles in the Fall by the TONS.
So bad on nice sunny days you can't work in the yard
because they land on you and BITE!
They swarm by the thousands and try to come into our house for the winter.
We vacuum them up all winter although last year must of
been a bad year for them because the numbers were way down,
but this has been going on for 10 years + here. :(
Ironically I still get Aphids on my roses.
So much for ALB being beneficial.
Cottage Rose,
I've heard when they get into the house they continue to breed all winter.
And if you find any on the wall that they will stain your painted wall if they are
smashed? I haven't had these experiences cause cross my fingers and knock on wood I don't and won't have any.
We used to get the asian beetles in our home. I started spraying the yard inside the fence and the foundation of the house with ant killer. It attaches to your garden hose. We just spray everything in the yard and we've elimated the problem. We also don't get aphids since they feed on the ants. I'm not crazy about using poison but a couple times a season we do. I just can't stand the little buggars. Gets rid of most other bugs too like fleas etc. so it's better all the way around for everyone here.
Loon, you spray all your plants too??? It doesn't harm them??
I don't. My husband does. :) He hooks the bottle up to the hose and starts at one end of the yard and just sprays everything but especially around the foundation of the house. We don't use any chemicals in the vegetable garden which is quite a ways from the house. We just spray the yard inside the fence around the house.
