What is this?

I found this on my Sweet Black-Eyed Susan 'Henry Eilers.' It appears to be some type of inch worm. The pix aren't the greatest - had to use a magnifying lens with the camera. Amazing camouflage on this critter, even has a little piece of flower petal attached to it's back.

Looks like a type of sunflower of daisy.

Yes, intrigue, it's rudbeckia subtomentosa. It's difficult to see, but there's a larva of some type on the center. I'm hoping it will become a lovely butterfly or moth. I think it may be a looper moth larva of some sort.

Tried to get a better shot. Here you can see its profile better...and that it has added more petal pieces to its back.
