This morning's photos

Victoria,, BC(Zone 8b)

I thought I would post a few photos I took as I walked around the garden this morning, with my tea, before I set off for work. It was very pleasant with dew on everything and a freshness in the air (read "fall"!) I have had a few successess and a few failures - obviously I am NOT posting the failures !

This is a B. Snowbank which I almost gave up on last year. This year I planted it in the ground and it is doing much better.

The gingers are coming into there own now . "Tara" is starting to bloom and this is a white butterfly ginger which brugcrazy in Campbell River gave me a piece of last year

This is the second year of my "jungle garden" in the middle of my driveway. Everyone thinks that it was a lot of work (and it was to set up) but everything is perennial except for the brugs which my poor DH plants every year, and this year it has taken off. The peanut butter plant (Melianthus Major) has gotten out of control and will have to be cut back. I love this plant and it creates a lot of interest even the mailman knocked on my door to find out what it was (he is now my "new best friend" !)

This is another plant, alstromeria, which the mailman was interested in. He knocked on the door about this one as well and my husband answered the door. "Oh, its you" the mailman says, as if my DH didn't know anything. Of course my DH couldn't remember the name so he proved the mailman right LOL !

Here is some of my collection of houseplants which I will have to find a space for next month. I would swear I did NOT put all those plants out there !

Does anyone check out the plants at the local Rona stores. I have noticed they are getting more exotics and last year I picked up two standard oleanders for $19.99 each. This year is was two standard hibiscus, one red and one double orange for the same price. of course now I have to find out where to put them over the winter - I think we had just came back from Maui and well it seemed like a good idea at the time !

Last one for now - a wonderful clematis, which I have long since lost the tag, but has been blooming since spring.
