In my semi-awake state this morning, I thought how great it would be to make a soup of some kind now that the weather is cooling off a bit.......In my mind--I wanted to make a Beef and Vegetable soup.
Got up before 8AM and went to THREE grocery stores looking for marrow-filled soup bones. Picked up whatever I could find on the way--and then hit the "Jackpot" at Super Fresh.
All in all--I ended up having about 15 sections of soup-bones of different sizes---NOT all with marrow--BUT, I had about 12 that had marrow in it.....Doing a Happy Dance here.....
My question is-----now that I have cooked all the Soup Bones to death (for the Stock)--what do I do with all the marrow that is in them?????? It is still all there--in the hollows of the bones.....
I know it is all PURE fat! Yet--It is also what gives Soup and other things a lot of flavor.
I LOVE to "fish out" marrow from the occasional bone---YUMMM! But--I am NOT going to eat it from 15-some soup-bones!!!!! AGGHHH! Cholesterol attack!!!!!
Whatever "fell out of the bones" in the process of cooking the Stock--I will let it be in the Soup--BUT what do I do with all the Bone Marrow that I fished out from all the bones????? I have a small bowl-full of it....
Someone's dog is going to get all the bones--but I do not think that any dog needs to have all the fat that the marrow is. SO! I have "fished" it all out.....with a narrow, baby spoon and put it all in a small bowl.
I KNOW that some people render Chicken Fat to use as fat to fry things in. I have done that too....Does anyone keep marrow-fat (which it is--100%) to do anything with?????
Whew! Long story to get to my final question!
