Trumpeter Swans in Northern Lower Michigan

Dearborn Heights, MI(Zone 6a)

A pair of Trumpeter Swans let me photograph them this past week along with their babies.
This was on the AuSable River near Oscoda, Michigan.

"Are you talking to ME?"
This one came right up to me (I was sitting on a picnic table), he/she softly tasted my hand, pulled on
my coat and tried to take my Camera Strap.
Mom and Dad just stood watching, but not worried.

Excellent pics Sandy! Their such gorgeous birds!

Sandy, they are beautiful birds. Good images.

Anchorage, AK(Zone 4a)

Sandy, very nice pictures. Obviously "park Swans" to be so tame. The wild birds up here in Alaska don't let people get so close to them. Originally a Michigander, I was really surprised they had been reintroduced there. Upon checking National Geographic's Field Guide, I discovered there is a small breeding area around Oscoda. The migrating Swans are just starting to move into the ponds along the highway south of Anchorage. We saw one pair last weekend.

Oh how wonderful. I've only ever seen Mute swans and I love them, even when they grab the bread from your hand! Magnificent birds.

Your photos are fabulous!
