An update from our friends at Dupont Nursery in La

Nederland, TX(Zone 9a)

I have talked to Robert and Bobby through email and the family is all safe and sound. The nursery on the other hand had to have the plastic cut and tornados have mangled some of their frames as well as plumbing. All of the hibiscus and poinsettias crops are safe as well as a many other plants. They are working hard to get things cleaned up and back together. Both Bobby and Robert recently got power back yesterday and today. Robert said it was a rough ride. They are running the nursery on generators while repairing. I personally have had to overcome hurricane damage numerous times and it will take it's toll on you, as anyone who has gone through one will tell you this. In my opinion it is an honor to even know the Dupont's, they are one of the nicest families I have ever had the opportunity in my life to meet and it's always a joy for me to go to visit them when I can. They always make you feel welcome and at home. Never a stranger. Please keep all of them in our prayers as well as others effected by Gustav. I have posted a pic of the past hibiscus of the year "Black Dragon" which is a favorite of many on Daves Garden.

Take Care,
Robert

So glad to hear they, and you, are safe. The storms are too numerous this year and are coming too close together.

Fortunately for us, Hanna turned out to be a big wuss although she will probably cause a few problems further up the coast but they will be minimal compared to those caused by Gustav.

And, oh crap.....here comes IKE. I am sick to my stomach, of what these storms are doing to the gulf. Please let the Duponts know that they are absolutley in my prayers!

Keeping all of you in the paths of the storms & hurricanes in my prayers - stay safe!
