Substituting fresh lime juice for fresh lemon juice ?

Hi everyone
Can I substitute fresh lime juice for fresh lemon juice in jams, jellies, applesauce and pie fillings? Lemons are super expensive here and not the best but right now fresh limes are on sale for 20 cents a piece. If they would work I would prefer to use the lime juice. Can anyone advise? thanks so much
