I can hardly wait as I have been waiting to see a bloom for over 10 years. My plant I call Georgia, cause I got it from a gal in Georgia has a big bud. I am so excited. Had to get up about 3AM so I went and checked on it. Not open yet.
With my luck it will open while I am working at the Hurricane command center in the next few days .Lets hope Hanna down grades and I stay home.

I'm excited got a bud on my Night blooming Cyrus
Take it with you to the command center if it blooms it will cheer everyone up.
Great idea Wren ... I would take it along and let everyone enjoy the lovely bloom and fragrance!
Lavina: Stay safe! I think everyone in the SE is watching not only "Hanna" but "Ike" as well!
Can you hear me screaming? I did not take it with me and yelp it bloomed. I was afraid someone might be alergic to it so I felt I should be safe and not take it.
I wqill see the next one maybe.
Lavina
Sorry. I have never hear of any one being alergic to them. Hope you see the next one.
I'd keep watching Lavina ... maybe you will see more buds in the next week or so!
Oh my I hope I don't have to wait ten years to see mine bloom. I more than likely won't be here that long.
Whoopie I have another bloom forming maybe I can see this one this time and my boss said to bring it with me to the hurricane shelter if we have to man it again which I hope we don't have to do.
I am so excited.

LavinaMae: Ooh ... please keep close watch! I had 6 buds on my night blooming orchid cactus, all in different stages of opening. I have had this really huge plant for more than 30 years and have NEVER seen an open bloom, always missed them in the past. I have been determined this time to see one of those flowers opened instead of wilted and drying up! LOL. I checked last night a couple of times and they looked promising, checked again about 9:30 and no change that I could see. I decided to grab the flashlight and camera and check one last time before going to bed last night ... and Wow! I had two opened flowers! They are so pretty too ... what a shame they only last for a few hours over night! I have a few small orchid cactus that I have no idea what they are so I'm hoping some of them will be day bloomers and hope to have some with maybe pink or red flowers.
Keep us posted on how yours is doing ... and of course we hope you get a picture of the bloom when it opens!
Here's my Epiphyllum Hookeri (Hooker's Orchid Cactus) I have had this plant for many, many years and this is the first time I've managed to see an open bloom so I was really excited!
