I saw Catscans description of chickens as evolved velociraptors, and thought I would share my photographic evidence.
My "evolved velociraptor" chicken...
WOW! taht is one scary raptor!
Thank you Myrrh for corroborating my theory! Now to forward your powerful evidence to Dr. Jacques Gauthier. But perhaps you better do it....he seems to be avoiding my emails.

I have no idea, Myrrh--perhaps he is intimidated by the power of my analysis? Or terrified that the world will learn he merely piggybacked on my seminal insights into chicken evolution? And THEY call me mad!
That is one intelligent looking chicken. Ameraucana?
Hi Schnitzel! You are a clever bird indeed!
My Marans, Brie, is broody. She comes out of the nest box about once everyother day. It is going on three weeks and so far the ping pong balls are all still intact. We will continue to wait for them to pip.
Does she get enough to eat when she is broody? The things I read about de-broodying the broodies sound like chicken Guantanimo. I read that marans often go broody in their second year, so I promised schnitzel that if she can wait that long I will get her some fertile hatching eggs and she can brood away.
She has food and water available in the coop--and when she comes out she pecks around for about 1/2 hour and umm--relieves herself--then back to the coop and her ping pong balls. I wish I had know she was going broody--I would have gotten her eggs.
Delphine has vanished--but I think she has found a place to go broody, possibly the garage (you remember the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark?"). She was going into the nest box and generally snooping around the last few days. So far all my spring pullets are broody except the RIR. I really wasn't expecting this.....I'm down to one egg a day.
They've all gone broody? I know the Marans tend to brood, and the barnevelders occassionally, but don't you have lots of other breed as well. Suddenly I am concerned about my "non-setters." One egg a seems like very few for as many chickens as you have. Could it be that this is the Chicken Fairys way of telling you that you need more chickens?
You know teenagers and peer pressure--one girl goes and gets broody and they all do.
CF has already contacted me--through dreams, visions and Dmail--and I am destined for hatching eggs when I get back from Brazil. I have fought the good fight--and I have lost. Even DH the "how many chickens do you have NOW?" has turned enabler. CF is very, very powerful. Fear is the only correct attitude to approach her with. Didn't someone here say they saw what may have been her hoof prints? Telling. Very telling. I'm not sure you are suppose to find that kind of evidence. Harmony are you okay?
did they look like Yak prints?
Catscan - how will you manage to survive in Brazil without DG to keep you company?
TF - I think there are yak prints in my goat pen.
When Red Rosie realizes I have walked across the yard and she comes running over in a big hurry to find me, she absolutely looks like a velociraptor. I think if I were a caterpillar, I would be scared poopless. But I'm not a caterpillar, so I just pick her up and give her a cuddle. :-)
I am cogitating.....cogitating.....how to smuggle eggs back from Brazil? CF are there any interesting South American breeds I should be looking for? No! I would never smuggle eggs--too risky, to socially irresponsible, too messy. Sigh. CF--will their really be eggs coming to me after my trip? And does my kind benefactor remember that I will be in Ohio from the 22-24?
I know someone who really wants Silkies and I will sell them out to the CF in exchange for some JG crosses--pullets please!
Paelentologist Jack Horner and some researcher named Hans Larrson at McGill are attempting to retro-engineer birds to recreate dinosaurs. Larrson is attempting to turn on the genes in chicken embryos to regain the ancestral mutivertebrate tale. And they say the branch that became birds was the raptor (e.g. Velociraptor).
Another researcher looking at what was probably a Silky embryo saw sabre shaped teeth. He was then able to turn on the "tooth" gene in other chicken embryos.
Now another pair of researchers are working with Silkies to regain the ancestral gene for making scales instead of feathers on the legs. They can flip from one to the other.
Horner wants to retro-engineer Emus into Velociraptors!
Ah, Sweet Vindication!

Cool! And did you notice, it's at McGill....which is of course.....in CANADA!!!!
Bwwwaaaaaahahahahahahahahahhahahaha! (we will take over the WORLD!!!)
OK, maybe this chicken wielding power is going to my head just a bit.
The latter, I suspect. I also thought it was unCanadian to want to take over the world...
It is. Highly unCanadian. I should be flogged.
FLOG!
just caem here to mention that my bantam favorelle is getting that raptor look at times.... maybe SHE is gonna take over the world...
