Did you know you can access any computer program without using the mouse?
Select a program from your list of programs - Like Microsoft WORD.
Right click on the program name and you will get a list of options.
At the end of the list is "properties" - left click this
In properties, there is tab for Shortcut.
One selection is Shortcut key: You can select a combination of CTRL + ALT or CTRL + SHIFT and any key to make a shortcut to the program. For Outlook use O, for Word use W, etc.
e.g. if you assign the Shortcut key to Word at CTRL + ALT + W then click OK, the properties window will close. Regardless of where you are in windows, pressing CTRL, ALT and W at the same time will start Word.
For me, I have
CTRL + SHIFT + Q for Quicken
CTRL + SHIFT + G for Google Earth
CTRL + SHIFT + C for Windows Calculator
CTRL + SHIFT + B for QuickBooks
I do taxes for a living, so each year is the access point
CTRL + SHIFT + 7 for 2007 taxes
CTRL + SHIFT + 6 for 2006 taxes, etc.
Within these program I can use CTRL + ALT + I to get to individual tax, CTRL + ALT + P to get to partnership, etc.
I like the mouse, but not when I am in a hurry. These shortcut keys only take a short time to set up and save much time hunting for the programs that I use regularly. All of this is in addition to the built in shortcut keys from windows like CTRL C, CTRL P, CTRL V, etc to copy, print, paste, etc. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/126449
