What is this weed/volunteer?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi, everyone! Can you tell me what this guy is? It popped up next to the playfort. DH has been ignoring it to see what it would become, but now that it has what looks like a seed head, we need to know if we can leave it or if we need to dig it out. LOL

It's a good 2 1/2 feet tall, and the stems are almost white.

Here's a close up of the head. We didn't see any flowers, per se. It's a pretty plant - so far. :-)

Not sure but it looks like a sorghum or millet... probably spread via birdseed.

Probably more like some birdie that's mouth wasn.t big enough for his eyes......

I wonder if it could be a sorghum variety, maybe a forage sorghum?

Sorghum, huh? I wonder how many plants it takes to make syrup... My favorite part of living in southwestern Wisconsin in the early 80s was eating sorghum on my pancakes. Yummm! I'm thinkin' I probably wouldn't get much out of this one plant, though. LOL

Thanks, everyone!
