I recently got two dinnerplate hibiscus. [ mid august ] They bloomed through Aug., but now they stopped. They only have one bud between them. Is this normal,or is the honeymoon over? There is also a white looking color on some of the leaves. I'm sending a pic for diagnosis. Any help would be appreciated.
It's normal for hardy hibiscus to bloom for a while and then quit. They probably won't bloom again until next year and it will be on new stalks. At least in Iowa, that is how they bloom. The stalks are very straight and they send up more and more each year. I'd like to see a picture of the blooms, too. Your picture is a bit fuzzy to me. Someone with better eyes will have to give it a look.
Thanks anyway. I probably won't get another picture this year. I'm just going to bring my pots in for the winter and hope for the best.
