Being a southern girl at heart, I've decided that I'd like to plant a few pecan trees. Does anyone know of a source in Northeast Ohio for decent size trees, or have any advice for growing them here? I'm just southwest of Cleveland, right on the edge of 5b-6a .
Pecan trees for zone 5b (Cleveland, OH) ? Source?
It depends on how long you want to take to grow them.. You can grow trees and start from nuts.. Then graft onto the tops with scion wood of some nice cutivars..
The Missouri Department of Conservation usually sells bundles of native pecans.. They should be fine in your zone.. But again the nuts would be small and you would want to graft onto the tops.
Or: You could try Forrest Keeling Nursery at

all of which are Missouri.. But that's where I am... Sorry I don't know much about Ohio
Here is some info from Pennsylvania.
