or Hummingbirds are mean.
I love sitting out in the morning and watching the hummingbird wars. I have two feeders up and one hummingbird has laid claim to both, beating off any interlopers. Two of the three regulars appear to have had a war council .. one would attract the attention of the declared owner of the feeders while the other one would drink .. they'd then switch places.
My camera is not sophisticated enough to stop the motion of a hummingbird, but I did manage to get some good shots this morning.

MINE! - NO MINE!!!!!! - NO MINE!!!!!!
A previous thread title from this forum has stuck in my head:
Ruby throated hummer = crabby little bird
LOL we've got the same thing going on here. A recently arrived (or recently matured?) male with a dark head has laid claim to all 3 feeders plus the surrounding blooming plants, chasing away the female who has been here all summer. She and her offspring manage to double-team him and get in an occasional drink, but it's sure not peaceful out there anymore!
On the same page as the pictures there is a file called humbird.zip. It's a whole plethora of Hummingbird stuff for computer .. cursors, fonts, wallpaper theme, etc. Right click on it and save it to your computer.

Oh that does look familiar. In anticipation of Tropical Storm Fay I had put up a feeder in the back yard here, and one at my daughter's house as well. The feeder at my daughter's house seems to be fair game. Here however, it is a different story. There is a male that drinks and then goes and sits on a branch a few feet above the feeder, then eats, and goes back - he can do this for an hour at a time, only disturbing his routine to chase off anything that comes near his feeder - including the dogs!
LOL... the new male here is the same way... but he is guarding *3* feeders!
