Got a message to Maximize my registry...?????

Does anyone know what this means? or what it does?

The message came on with a Spybot scan, and said "In order for your computer to continue to run properly you need to maximize your registry.

I googled and found instructions on HOW to do it and apparently it worked, but I have no idea what it is....I mentioned it to some pretty savvy computer people and they didn't know either.
I figured someone on this amazingly helpful site would know.
