Overwintering Tuberose

Zanesville, OH(Zone 6a)

This was our first year for tuberose and we really enjoyed them. We planted them in pots. Would like to try to keep them over the winter. Have never overwintered bulbs before. Should the tuberose stay in the pot? If so, should it be watered at all thru the winter? Or can the bulbs be removed from the pots and stored, and if so, how?

Thanks,

Denise

I've actually had mine in a pot for 3 or 4 years. I think the blooms each year originate from the edges of the clump. Subsequent years number of flowering stalks may decrease but with such a perfumed flower not many are needed to fill the air with the fragrance of heaven. I take mine to the basement every fall where I let them remain in their pots without watering.

Thanks for the info!

I've done both, left them in the pots or and taken them out, shaken off dirt, and dried a bit, then thrown in a box. Last year I had some in the greenhouse in pots, and waited all winter for them to die back. They never did! I even had a bloom in the middle of the winter.
