Thanks for your patience, my third post on this beautiful brug that won't bloom. I have added pics since I don't really understand the difference b/w the vegetative and growth stages and maybe they will help. Also, still getting lots of something snacking on the leaves. I put down slug pellets but it isn't helping. What do you think are making these holes? It contines to grow like crazy, and yes I do fertilize.
Thanks!!
Still waiting for blooms
Janet, did you ever check the leaves to see if you have vegetative growth or blooming growth?

I have had vegetative growth get 7' tall before it "Y"ed. I the growth is vegetative, the only thing you can do is to feed it twice a week. It will "Y" when it will "Y" and not before.
On the other hand if the growth is flowering growth, but hasn't bloomed. It could be that it's not getting enough nutrients. How often do you fertilize?
The few holes the plant has don't really impact the plant unless whole leaves were disappearing. If you can't see anything during the day, the culprit could be a caterpillar or any of a large number of chewing insects. I wouldn't worry about it now.
When will you have to dig it up to take inside? If you can keep from pruning it, you will get blooms sooner next year. There is one other thing you may wish to research: Somewhere I read that Brugs with a certain ancestry will take up to two years to bloom if they have to grow up from the underground stem. With them, you would have to be careful to retain as much of the original plant as possible.
It is possible be a hornworm.
Last night it got down here in the 30's.
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT CANADA.I'M SURE IT'S PRETTY COLD.
