Beginning a tropical area
Beginning a tropical area
As you can see I have a lot of work ahead of me. I started this bed March of this year and probably won't actually transplant anything until March of next year. This year has been in the planning and growing stage. We haven't had a lot of really bad winter weather since 2004 so I'm watching really close with my frost cloth at hand(if needed).
Susie2, you have quite a impressive collection of healhy looking plants. I like how neat and tidy everything is. I always have a few empty pots and water hoses laying around the yard.
Happy gardening
Wow Susie! You've really been busy. You remind me of me! I have plants everywhere. I love all kinds of tropicals and many non tropicals also. I start a new bed or two, then I have to back track and weed and feed. Then more seeds and cuttings get started, then on to another new tropical section. I love it!!
I really like all your plants. I just started some papaya seeds. I hope mine do as well as yours.

Yes, I do have about 17 plumerias. All were given to me. Most are white with yellow centers, one is light pink and I can see some red on another. That one has not bloomed entirely yet. I have some seeds that I have not planted but will when I can(maybe today). I also have a rainbow but it has not bloomed. Most of mine are about 4-5 ft tall. I started with these about 1 1/2 yrs ago and am really new at it. Learning by experimentation and trial and error. When they do bloom, I could get high just with the fragrance competing with the ginger. this morning was an example. I had to fight the mosquitoes to see which ones were blooming, the ginger won out. In the first photo you can see both plants.
thanks for all the comments.
Susie, I'm really impressed with how well you keep up with your weeding. Mine have gotten so bad, I can't hire anyone to weed for me for fear that they will pull a plant. I'm limited to fairly small shaded area since FPL had 1/3 of my oak tree chopped off! I seem to be drawn to plants with large leaves. I also have quite a few that have never made it into the ground. Hurricane season makes me afraid to put some in because it's easier to just bring them in. Those that stay grounded get ripped a bit with the winds. I'm in zone 10 (Fort Myers Shores). Here are some of my babies! I'd love to see other collections.
