This little guy at my feeder will let me come right up to him. He will hop all around on the ground looking for seeds all around me if I sit down. He is picky. He looks for sunflower seeds that are already out of the shell. He won't take them from my hand - yet...but it was very surprising to see how tame he was. I have seen alot online on titmouses being tame. He would even let us pet him. (I washed after) He is not sick...just tame - I hope, he acts to hyper to be sick. It was a cool experience. They say that chickadees are even more tame? That is hard to believe. Has anyone had any "wild bird being tame" experiences?
Tame tufted titmouse
Chickadees are pretty tame. Tonight I had 2 come onto the porch where I was sitting and flit all around me. Theres no food on the porch of course.
Another member Shan has had Chickadees land on her gloved hand and eat out of her palm.
I wouldn't feel comfortable feeding or touching wild birds with my bare hands although when I had a few Goldfinch hit the window I held them cupped in my hands to keep them warm till they seemed better.
I have had both Chickadees and Tufted Titmice eat out of my hand. It is really a great experience.
I posted this video before, but if you'd like to see it, here it is.

Thanks Pelle, it was actually with your help back in February that I put it on youtube.
What a delightful video delibu. I realy enjoyed it. Too short, though.
Chickadees come to hand at the Ipswich Wildlife center west of us (Mass Audubon). Ours at home just perch around and tells us that we are not filling the feeder quickly enough.
