hummer with tick?

I was sitting outside watching the hummers and one came to the feeder and I noticed this spot on the center of its back, it looked like a tick, do they get ticks or was it something else? I've never seen anything like that before. My feeder is only a few feet from my table so I was able to notice the bump or what ever it is. thanks

yes hummers can get ticks and if you can catch it and get it off the bird thats the best as the tick will slowly over a week kill the hummer. the tick will actually be able to prevent the bird from flying and getting the nessasary food it needs and drain it of the small amount of blood.


i have read several cases of this happening. and it does happen.
