Clumpy Mistletoe Cactus
Rhipsalis mesembryanthemoides

It's a great-looking plant, and it seems to have done well at the show, but I think it's strutting its stuff under a false identity. R. teres fma. capilliformis has very thin, soft draping branches that divide repeatedly. This one looks like R. mesembryanthemoides, with its brown stems lined with short, blunt-ended, terete branchlets.

many show plants are commonly misidentified... seems as people keep these plants for decades their identities sort of become less of a concern and at show time, they have to come up with something. I will move it soon

Do either of you know if the Rhipsalis capilliformis blooms? If so, any good pictures of one in bloom?

Lewiston, MN

They do bloom, but the flowers (while they can be numerous) are very small and not particularly showy. I'm not sure where to find a picture, but I'll check whether there are any flowers on mine right now, and if so, I'll get a shot tomorrow.

Sorry to have lost tract of this one for a bit. Was it determined whether this photo should be moved to a different entry?

I agree it's not teres... move it if it fits the other ID

Thanks! It's been moved.
