Okay-I really am addicted. My pond seemed so empty since my two fish were eaten and one died. I went to a specialty koi place called Japanese Koi Supply in Marengo IL. The man barely spoke english but it was a very interesting experience. Pretty much everything was made in Japan, from his pumps to his nets and his fish. I will post some pictures of my new additions. Again, these are not going to be show quality but pet quality.
In this picture I am giving the fish a preventative salt bath before it goes into the quarenteen tank. Nice string algae-right?
Predator is gone and I spent $$$ on new koi . . .
The other two fish are both Kohaku but one is a sparkly version. I picked these for their friendly nature-one climbed into the Japanese dealers hands. Plus don't they say every pond should have at least one kohaku? Well, I haven't fed that variety to a heron yet so I thought I'd stock up and keep their diet well rounded. . .
Very nice adoptions !!
And fingers crossed for successful diversion of predators!
:-)
Thanks Willie-I'm netted up pretty good now. Keeps everything out including the leaves. My fish aren't as afraid anymore. The new classmates (in their "school") have changed up the mental energy and they are swimming around again. It's so nice to see them out again!
I was looking at netting last week .... though, mine more for leaves, thankfully. I have a lot of oak trees around.
Great fish!!!! Love the red nose on the first one. I have a Sanke with the clown nose that we named Krusty:)
You said you are looking for netting. this is my 6 year old pond and this had given me a lot of peace of mind. i lost several kois from herons years ago until my son designed this. This is very presentable unlike my first netting which just laid on top of the pond with pvc pipes to prevent the net fronm falling into the water. I had shown this picture several times and so a lot of you must have seen this. To me this is the only way to deter herons and leaves going into the pond. I can go inside to clean and fertilize. Bellieg
Bellieg: Very nice ..... I like that!
Bellig: Very Nice! You're lucky to have a son that can make something like that.
he has a computer graphics degree.
He has a "common sense" degree-the most important thing! :)
