My bad memory

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

A few weeks ago, I had to use a magnet I had attached to an old curtain rod to find something I dropped on the lawn.
I propped the magnet and rod up and forgot about it. When I did discover it, a chrysalis had formed on the top near the magnet.
I didn't know what to do with it, so I put it on the porch in a shelf hoping the butterfly would emerge soon.
A couple of weeks passed and I forgot all about the chrysalis and why the rod was sitting there so brought it inside.I propped it up by the light switch in the kitchen.
Today I worked out in the yard all day and when I came in, our dog was looking at the rod. There sat the butterfly. I still didn't remember the chrysalis and wondered why a butterfly would be in the house and just sitting, not flying. LOL
I finally noticed the discarded chrysalis and my memory came back. The wings were still wet, so that is why it was just sitting there. After taking some pictures of it, I took it outdoors where it sat for a short while and then had its first flight up, up and away.

Looks like a Gulf Fritillary to me! How exciting!

How sweet! And it sounds like you have a problem like mine...bad memory. The remote for my TV is still missing after almost a week. I hope I didn't take it outside somewhere. I wouldn't want to find a GF chrysallis on it.

LOL! I think they should make remotes with finder beepers on them.

Great shot of the GF, glad you left it and didn't think it was a dead leaf and toss it.
The portable phones we have do have a calling handset that has come in handy several times. LOL! I am missing a small cutting board from my kitchen now. DH and I remember using it a week or so before I missed it. That has puzzled us for a month now. All I can figure is that I was half asleep and had something on it that was going in the trash and thought it was a paper plate and tossed it.
The older I get the less I remember I forgot.

Oh my gosh! What a wonderful & fun story. I've been worried about my failing memory, I guess it is just normal in our busy world. Maybe I'm just too easily distracted!

I bought a device to attach to my car keys. Supposedly, it worked like if I misplaced them, I could whistle and the keys device would beep if not too far away. Well, it beeped when I didn't whistle also. I got tired of it beeping occasionally for no apparent reason and had to disable it.
