This is NOT!!!! Sclerocactus sileri, who identifies plant photos, they need to be looked at more closely. This plant is?

Well, this is an utter outrage! The plant is Pediocactus sileri

I can see a taxonomic storm brewing.
We're currently using Andersons view in the PlantFiles for Pediocactus/Sclerocactus sileri.
In the Flora of North America, they are listed as two separate species.

It is not the best picture to make an ID from and we don’t know the location, but I feel it is a Pediocactus my guess is Pediocactus peeblesianus var. fickeiseniae but it is defiantly not Sclerocactus sileri or Pediocactus sileri.

In comparing to these photos of Pediocactus peeblesianus var. fickeisenii:
http://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/PEDIOCACTUS/Pediocactus_peeblesianus/Pediocactus_peeblesianus_fickeisenii/Pediocactus_peeblesianus_v_fickeisenii_SB468_Fredonia.htm
The main thing I see is that the thicker spines do not lay against the body of the cactus. They instead, protrude outwardly.

The reason I believe it is Pediocactus sileri is, according to this photo:
http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi/img_query?enlarge=0000 0000 0608 1477

The thicker spines lay against the body.
