I'm trying to figure out what kind of warbler this is. I think maybe an immature Nashville Warbler. There seems to be quite a few them hanging out in the wild raspberry bushes and also thrilling me by coming into my garden. This one perched on a tomato cage just long enough for me to snap the pic. I live in western New York state. I wish I had more views but this is the only one I got.
CLOSED: What kind of warbler?
I'll say Common Yellowthroat. See this page, and scroll down to the pics of first winter males:

Any water nearby, creeks or marshes?
Yes, the wild raspberries are on the bank of a pond and all around the marshy spillway area. I think you're probably right Claypa. But what about the white around the eye? That's what made me think of the Nashville Warbler.
I don't think the Nashville warbler would have the black on the cheek your bird has. First winter female Kentucky warblers are very similar but they probably aren't up there in NY.
They're not called Common Yellowthroats for nothing, especially near water. Their song is easy to recognize too, witchety witchety witchety witchety . Maybe you can listen to their song and next time you'll know them. I always hear them before I see them, and they usually hide anyway, just a flash of yellow in the brush.
That's an excellent picture, we don't get to see too many warblers in the bird forums. .! Maybe there'll be more posts in the fall, when they're harder to ID
Yep, Yellowthroat for me too, a one-year old male.
