Hi Dete! I haven't had a chance to view all the pictures yet, but I certainly will. You really are a fantastic photographer. I enjoyed the pictures very much. I'm glad you had a nice time with fellow plumerians.
Wonderful presentation, thank you for the tour!
I went back yesterday and viewed all the pictures, and they are great! Thanks for sharing them.
thanks for the compliments sally and clare. Day 3 is is now online. go to http://www.llvphotography.com/Showitweb/socalplumies/ and click Day 3 in the upper left.
Great photos! You really do have a knack for taking candid shots as well as beautiful flower photos. And I LOVE that straw hat! :-)
WOW...I just returned from Southern California with my first two Plumeria plants. I was told that they can be grown here with close care. I garden about 4 hours a day because I am retired. I start at 6am and end at 10am because of the heat. Later in September, it will be beautiful and I will be able to garden all day... I have two Plumerias and two gingers to plant. I have a wonderful courtyard area that should be perfect. . Wish me much luck. Sharon
Hi Sharon, I think you have to treat them like people from Arizona do with filtered sun, lots of water, and winter protection. It does get cold in Las Vegas, and there was even snow there a few years ago. Plumerias cannot take freezing weather and need protection from temps below 40.
You know those folks in Arizona.. Wimps. LOL. I will be sure to shelter my Plumerias. I aso have two new Ginger plants. I planted my winter vegetable garden today, We were suppose to have rain today but again Arizona stole every drop of rain. Have a great Labor Day.
i
the summer monsoon belongs to arizona and mexico. get your own. haha!
Yes, well I wish AZ and Mexico would keep all the side effects of the monsoon, too! We're tired of the muggy weather and my bones are tired of aching every time one of those storms moves through - and we don't get any of the rain, either! Find another route for them, please. :-)
Thanks for sharing your photos. What fun! And all the beautiful plants.
Kathleen, it's been humid here too, and my plumies are wondering where the heat went! I have a 5-year-old seedling that is about to bloom for the first time, and the stem is this wonderful maroon color, but the buds keep aborting because the heat is insufficient!
Is that what might be causing some of my buds dropping? And I don't even want to talk about the powdery mildew on the roses. Yuck!
Lack of energy and heat can cause bud drop, yes. Maybe we'll have a heat wave or two before the summer ends.
Awesome pictures Dete...you really are talented!
The high heat with high humidity has been causing buds to drop here since August. Only the strongest plants have been flowering with force...most others have a few flowers here and there.
