Brugmansia in containers

New York, NY

I thought this was an interesting use of the plant. (This is a container in the conservatory at the New York Botanical Garden.)

Very pretty.. Laurita.. NYC Brug update: I heard Wave Hill [ also in theBronx ] didn't have their brug this year.. SailorsSnug Harbor [Garden in Staten Island ] had a few going inside
I grow all of mine in containers.. but somehow end up with a dozen flowers below the soil line..I'm not sure just why.. guess the plants are looking for a crawling pollenator..I'll post some pictures of this in a few days ..when my machine comes back from the repair
shop..

I do love that one, It's so neat looking, Most of the time they grow straight up and don't bush out like that for a while. It would be nice if I saw more of mine doing this LOL instead of shooting straight up.

more food and more light helps keep them tighter... but some just reachout and get tall first..
or so it would seem... Gordon

Gordon -- I'll ask some of my friends at the botanical garden about the growing below the soil line problem.
Kathy Ann -- I'll also ask them the secret to bushy, full plants.

Well I might add.. a free drainning medium..alowing speedy cycling to dry is also helpful..
invite the botanical friends by...
I guess the reason they hang down here..to what would be below the soil line.. is that they can.. and are really good at filling up any unused spaces.. the brugs are pretty quick to recoil from a problem they encounter..
