I'm grateful for all three.
I got a surprise B-day gift from some of the folks on this forum today, and I can't express how touched I was by it.
Thanks to everyone.
The money will stay right in my Paypal account for use on the website. That will cover web costs for three years!
It was especially nice to see after some of the on-line nastiness of the past year. It's great to see the old axiom that most people are basically good at heart confirmed.
Thank you,
Mark
Birthdays, turning 40, sneaky friends...
Happy Birthday Mark!
Hope you had a really great day!
By the way ... Like everyone else, I am loving the Stemma on-line journal. Great information, great photo's, very well put together. Great Job!
We have a great group of folks here in this garden! I am so thankful that Dave does the necessary weeding when needed to keep it a happy, healthy garden of friends!
Happy Big 4*0!!! What a great birthday present!
Happy, happy birthday Mark, and thanks so much for all you do for all the hoya addicts on this list...
Stemma is incredible, and I'm so thankful for people like you, willing to share your time and knowledge with us.
Hope your 40th year is the BEST one yet!

Happy Birthday, Mark!! And ditto what everyone else has said about your hard work on Stemma!
Karen
Thanks again, everyone.
It must be my day- I found a huge compacta 'Krinkle-8' today in a local nursery- very well grown and full of peduncles. When it rains, it pours!
Best wishes for your special day, Mark! You have the best half of your life yet to go, ya know!! I will also ditto everyone's words regarding your bringing Stemma to us. We all benefit from your efforts.
Barb
Happy Birthday. Stemma is excellent!

Late in on the well wishing Mark...your energy and enthusiasm are so appreciated in STEMMA...to say nothing of the work you put in it. Thanks so much...
You are 40? To be? Wow...I thought something like 32.... Arghhhhh I feel old!
Aloha,
Carol
OK, I will wish a happy belated birthday too. And thanks for Stemma, its a great publication.
Carol lets not rub it in. I too passed my 4*0 an eternity (almost 7 years!) ago. And I have not anything to show for all that time. I guess I shouldn't flounder in that thought. But hey, Stemma coming from a youngster! Dude, keep cranking out the good stuff, as you have it going on!
My hat is off to you, Mark!
Aaah ... to be 40 again ... or even 47 ... or 50! LOL, I turned the big 6-0 this year but actually the only thing I'd change is maybe I'd be kinder on my joints ... my knees and hips get so creaky at times I feel like the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz ... I need an oil can to help get me going! ^_^
Even if I was in a wheelchair, I'd still have to play in the dirt!
And.....
Age is only a number - Right? Right?
Definitely!
I agree!!!!
Well, right now my aching body is feeling about 90 or so! I've spent the entire day moving plants back out to their rightful places on the pool deck, porches and the wood deck. I also spent time picking up palm fronds and broken tree branches from the storm and picked up the bird bath and bench that I had dumped over in the yard. And, I hung a bunch of plants back in the trees and put the furniture back on the pool deck.
Right now I'd love a jacuzzi/hot tub! Guess I will have to settle for a hot shower. I still have a little to do outside tomorrow afternoon and the lawn needs mowing badly after all the rain we got from that Tropical Storm ... but I am done for today .... the shower and ben gay are calling my name. ^_^
Well, glad to hear that at least Fay did no major damage to your property, although I guess she still has to answer to your joints.
Wait a minute, you say South Florida and you want a hot tub? Isn't that a redundancy? I mean, isn't the humidity and temperature right about 105F and 120% Humidity? Like a hot tub?
Yep, and they are only numbers. When I was a kid, my parents had a friend who was 72 and liked to water ski barefoot. And really I feel about 27 when I take my 3 ibuprofen in the morning.
Lin...wouldn't it be wonderful if there were showers you could turn on and get cool air instead of water....and the air was strong enough in areas to massage those joints/muscles???? At 68 I still gogogo all day in the gardens and greenhouse until quite literally I run out of gas! I simply can't work another muscle.... and I have never been so happy in my life!!! I am with you, AnalogDog - I am 27 in the morning after the meds and vitamins and Methusala (sp?) at night!
You guys. I never seem to have fun unless I am the youngster of the bunch, as I am only 2 decades from 27. Well come my birthday in 32 days.
So am I the youngster of the bunch here? I'm 32, but I will be happy to celebrate my 40th with you guys here...just bare with me another 8 years!
Mark, what did you do for your birthday??
Gabi
I think I may be the oldest of the bunch here. I'm 73 years young. If I sit down for any length of time, the bones and muscles get lazy and just hate to move. ^_^. I try to stay on the go. Work at pulling weeds is a never-ending battle. Each time it rains, they sprout everywhere. Puttering in the plants keeps me young. I hate when the birthdays come. They seem to come faster every year.
My dear Mother in Law was such an inspiration to me. She lived to be 97 years young and was still driving and taking care of almost an acre of property at the age of 90. She had a riding lawn mower and would mow her lawn and then drive it two doors down to do a neighbors lawn! She always had the most beautiful flowers growing and dearly loved her fruit trees and small veggie garden. That sweet lady was always on the go, helping neighbors and folks at her church. I just hope I can still be as active when I reach 70!
Eileen, I know what you mean about weeds! I don't know but it seems to me each year there are more and more. We've been in this house 33 years and I keep telling my husband each year I don't ever remember having so many weeds. It's a constant battle ... I was sitting on the ground earlier this afternoon pulling weeds from one of my flower beds and cussing each one!
