Hi folks, Trent suggested I post a photo of my plumeria here for an ID. This is the first one I've ever gotten to bloom that didn't come directly from Hawaii (those always bloom - once anyway). I might post photos of them later for an ID too. In any event, I'm hoping I've finally broken the curse of the plumeria since I finally got one to bloom that I've had a while. This one smells really nice, my wife describes it as "lily" like.
Thanks,
-John
Plumeria ID
Hey John it is very difficult to identify a plumeria from a picture...especially a yellow/white. There are just too many yellow/white named varieties and even more yellow/white unnamed seedlings. I would just enjoy the one you have...without a name. Congrats on getting it to bloom!
Sorry I could not be of more help,
Davie

when i suggested that, i meant for him to get a good idea as to what it might be. i agreeit would be hard to name a specific kind, but since it came from hawaii and had a similarly described fragrance to that of a of a confirmed celadine. i thought it would spark a discussion like the last no id yellow thread... just to help narrow down the possibilities
Sorry Trent...maybe someone could be of more help...
no, dont be...you did what you could
I have to agree with Davie. There are too many yellow/whites out there which are seedlings of 'Celadine,' and it wouldn't be proper to call it 'Celadine' if it is a seedling of 'Celedine.' I have one that I call 'Aloha Palms Yellow' because I got it at 'Aloha Palms.' I know it isn't 'Celadine' because the flowers aren't three and a half inches across and because it has a compact growth, but it probably is a seedling of 'Celadine.'
Congrats on your awesome flower. It is beautiful even if it doesn't have a name.!
Thanks everyone. This is certainly one of the best smelling plumeria I've ever been around. Will enjoy it even without a name :)
I was looking back at photos today to see just how long I've had this plumeria. I've actually had it since 2003 and it's the only one of my originals that survived. So I only had to wait 5 years, LOL. I lost several the first year on a chilly floor - stupid mistake. The next winter I tried to hibernate them and that didn't go well. Since then I've had decent luck minus one or two that I brought back from HI - stem rot both times. So hopefully my three new plants from this years trip will survive the winter - they are looking pretty good so far. And maybe next year I can get the last one to bloom - I acquired it in 2005 from a lady in Orangeburg, SC. It's also clearly hasn't bloomed since it was potted, it's just one loooong trunk.
