Looks very similar to the yellow swallowtails that were on my dill last year...but I'm a novice. Let's see what the experts think.

It's a black swallowtail cat!!! Lucky you still have some dill for him, mine is all dried up. Their other host plants are rue, parsley, Queen Anne's lace and carrot tops. This is my second year raising black swallowtails, I love this pretty butterfly!

yeppers! Eastern Black Swallowtails. Beautiful pictures of both cats. Some times they are varying colored cats through each of the 5 instars they go through, but still, all the same butterfly.
