Guess it wasn't quite sure what to do - it didn't open up all the way but I'm still liking it. I'll have to talk to it extra nice so it won't be shy to show me all of it's bloom!

The unidentified double hibiscus looks like it might be "Magnifique."

What a nice collection; hibiscus sure get happy in August don't they.

Tulsa, OK

Thanks Susan - El Cap is blooming powder puffs it's so cute! I bet you hibbies are happy too Bartlesville seems to run about 5 degrees cooler than Tulsa. Thanks for the info Snug and Ardesia you're right they sure do seem to like it now in August. Part of it is the fact that we have an unusual spell of night temps in the 60s and day temps in the 80s - typically in Oklahoma August is the hottest month of the year and our temps are in the mid to upper 90s or like a few weeks ago triple digit weather! I'm just as happy as my plants are for the break in the weather! :)

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Beautiful. So happy to see someone elses babies. My poor things are lying on their side on the ground. I can't name a fav, cuz, they are all beautiful.

Tulsa, OK

Aww Cat I'm sorry to hear about your babies. How are things there - are you experiencing alot of flooding? You're in my thoughts - glad to see you're here posting. Don't worry in the winter month you keep alot of us going by posting all of your wonderful pictures - I'm looking forward to that since mine seem to 'sleep' in the winter - barely any blooms! :)

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Hey Ivana (i hope that's right?) - your pictures are terrific!!! I particularly like your First Impressions and Rosalind pic. Your Rosalind has me jealous. I dug a huge one out of my old garden when I moved last November, and it's just now starting to leaf out. No pretty Rosalind blooms at my house this season :-( Same with Magnifique and Tsunami, but at least they didn't die.

Great growing!

Ultimateshopper, you have such a fabulous collection of hibiscus. I was wandering around the garden this evening, thinking how crappy my roses look and how good my cheap old Lowes hibiscus look. So Ive decided to rip out my roses and put in their place some exotic hibiscus. Where can I get some like those gorgeous ones of yours?

Tulsa, OK

Hi Karen - yes it's Ivana! :) Sorry to hear about your Rosalind - but you know what - you'll be the one with blooms to show off during our long winters so I'll be the summer tag and you can be the winter one okay? I do like Rosalind she's been a bloom factory for me all this summer along with Lost Treasure, Cest Bon and most recently June's Dragon.

Fla - I aquired these from a few places - HVH, Martindales, a couple were given to me from my sister-in-law who is also an avid gardener. Robert at hypnotic blooms & Robert from Dupont also sells quality exotic hibiscus. Here are some of the web addresses of reliable vendors:
http://www.hibiscusplace.com
http://www.exotic-hibiscus.com
http://www.hypnoticblooms.net/
http://www.dupontnursery.com/

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I'd add www.hiddenvalleyhibiscus.com to that list

Citra, FL

Oh my thank you so much.....a-shopping I will go!

Tulsa, OK

Funny ecrane HVH has two addresses that links to the idential site - clever that way you can access it by name or via exotic hibicus search! I'm so used to just using my favs list that I didn't notice my link didn't list their name...

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Oh--I didn't even realize that link went to HVH--there's another company called Exotic Hibiscus and I assumed that's who you were linking to (now upon checking, their website doesn't have the hyphen in it).

Tulsa, OK

Well that's interesting Ecrane I didn't know that there was similar web address down there. I'll stick to the ones that we know do right by thier plants though. Fla I have to WARN you 'Collecting Exotics is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE' once you're hooked there's NO turning back! :) lol!

Exotic Hibiscus is OK, I've had really bad luck with their liners but the plants I've gotten from them were fine. I personally like the other places better though, they have better selections and the plants are larger and nicer and the shipping costs are less (EH makes you do 2 day air or something like that when shipping to CA, so it usually ends up being more expensive for me than some of the other places would be). So my general policy is if one of the others has the plant I'll get it from them, but if it's one that other places don't have then I'll get it from EH, no problems yet except on the liners.

Citra, FL

Im feeling the addictive thing coming on, unfortunately. I already have a zillion daylilies. I had roses, but they take so much care down here, and Im basically a lazy gardener, so that didnt work. Im getting more and more a tropical theme in my yard, with banana trees, several different gingers, the daylilies, and a few Lowes hibiscus. The hibiscus always have such beautiful foliage, and I just throw some chicken litter around them and they just thrive. So I saw all the gorgeous pictures here, and I feel another addiction coming on....

Ive ordered Cheap Frills, da Vinci, India and Peace Train from a vendor recommended here, and I got Curly Top and Cajun Princess right here on the Marketplace, so Ive got a good start. My job this weekend, should I choose to accept it, will be to rip out some of my worst roses (Ill keep a few) and get some nice spots for new hibiscus. Cant wait!

Citra, FL

I received my plants from Hibiscusplace....really gorgeous plants, I couldnt be happier.
