Queen Anne's Lace question

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

Hi,

I LOVE Queen Anne's Lace.. some of them at the side of the road are now in the "birdsnest' stage and I was wondering how to harvest the seed and what to do with it once it is harvested. I have a section of my garden that begs for something invasive, strong, lovely and tall behind the hostas...

thanks in advance for your help,

Love in Christ,
Janie

Just cut off the dried seed heads and shake them over a paper to get the seeds out. Plant them now, probably just cover lightly and you'll have little ferny babies come next spring. They are biennial, so won't bloom the first year, but the foliage is nice all by itself. They are easy to control, just deadhead leaving only a few heads to go to seed or gather the seed and plant them where YOU want them. They look especially nice with blace-eyed susan and New England asters this time of year and with Malva moschata earlier, all good strong and slightly invasive too.

Thanks, Kathleen!

I already have black-eyed susans in that section of the garden... so will have to find New England asters and Malva moschata!!!

Thanks!
