Is this one? Kricogonia lyside? I've never noticed until looking thru pics to post on another thread that this one was different.
Lyside sulphur?
Oh Cat...DonnaB...Fly...Sheila...Debnes...Linda...Frostweed...where are my experts?! I'm pretty sure it is but wanted a positive ID from someone who's possibly seen more.
Hiya Paige!
Oh boy, the first pic looks like it has a dark bar on the hindwing but don't see it on the second pic.
Dunno....couldn't you pic an easier one? LOL
I bet someone knows!
:o) Looks like a female Lyside Sulphur to me.
You must forgive me though - we get those by the thousands out here that I don't even give them a second look. We see them migrating northward intermingled with the gazillion of Snouts :o)
They use guayacan (Guaiacum angustifolium) as a larval host and that stuff is native and grows wild everywhere. Hence the abundance of lysides.
Keep a look out for Statira Sulphur (Phoebis statira) - there's been some talk of rare sightings out here but no photographs.
Here's a photo of a small puddling party.

Thanx for trying Rox! We can't all be as lucky as "some"! ;) I knew Cat would know, and somehow knew it would probably not be exciting. LOL It doesn't take much to excite me tho, especially after our dismal season. This picture is from last year and I'm still excited. :) Thanx Cat!
