To be fair, I forgot we were in the Off Topic thread too!
That being said - here is an off-topic pic! My attempt to grow gourds this year had a rocky start, but there may be some hope! Here is a baby swan gourd pic I took a few weeks ago . . .
OT-More Outside Beauties-3 :-)
Very cool! I love gourd birdhouses!
Pretty flowers you have there, jannich. I've sowed morning glory seeds more than 3 times this year, and nothing comes up. I guess they don't like Florida. Yet at DisneyWorld I see them blooming all over the park. This time I'm going to try in pots.
Jan, What a Beautiful Garden you have! I love that patio too! Yep, I bet a bird dropped a seed there and that cockscomb just took root and sprouted in center stage ... really cool! The Yellow Bells has become one of my very favorite plants ... I have the one Gail sent me and those yellow blooms are just so vivid and so pretty!
Lovely Jannich! Fun about the cockscomb! Very nice pictures!
Beautiful jannich..that cockscomb growing in the patio looks so cool..all of your plants look gorgeous!
Syru..I Love Gourds..Your Baby Swan looks great : )
Thanks, cedarnest. I don't think that one will survive, though. The vine it is on is wrapped around some cactus, and even though I have tried to keep it from the "bad" ones, I noticed over the weekend that the vine is drying up. I think it got cut at some point. There are other vines, though . . . hopefully they will do the job!
ooo I hope you get some to survive for you..gourds are just so cool ! I love making birdhouses out of them..there are some gals I know who can make works of art out of them..unfortunately I am not one of those gals..lol..mine are just a gourd with a hole drilled in it..lol..does the trick tho at attracting the birds...
Gee, I missed out on a lot! Jan, that is spooky growing right in the middle of the big patio.........how cool is that! Your yard is impressive.....you work in it all the time....that is why it is so nice!
Syrunami, I will start you morning glory seeds this week and then you can transplant them to pots....maybe even put them all in one big pot with something for them to climb on. I will use your seeds you gave me and some of Beckygardeners she sent me.....
I just realized that you didn't say you couldn't start morning glories (I am embarrassed) .....you said you got off to a rocky start with your gourds.........but if you want or need morning glory seeds started, just let me know.

Thanks, Gail, for the offer! I'm ok on morning glories for now. Still debating on starting more . . . the way the first batch of the I. hederifolia var. lutea WAS starting to look great before those darned winds kept knocking the pot off the porch!
I lost my first batch. They did bloom for a long time but I killed them with an overdose of fertilizer (me????? never!!!) I haven't decided whether to start a new batch as we do have plenty of time. Maturity for them are only 40-60 days...........
Thanks ladies.The cockscomb was a surpise.LOL.
