Don't understand new Spybot download

I know this is lame, but I got a popup that it was time to download new Spybot S & D. Which I did...it was late at night and instead of reading the tutorial then, decided to read it in the morning.Can't find it now, and I have lots of popups on the toolbar telling me S & D is scanning and what it's scanning. Before the download, I didn't have the notice that it was scanning. The icon on desktop says Spybot S&D 1 60.exe.

My question is, does anyone know if I still have to run manual scans? Can't believe I did this!
