Updates on our chickens and geese

Columbia, TN(Zone 7b)

I just posted pictures of the ducks under a different thread. Here are Hansel and Gretel who seemed fascinated by the camera!

here's a long range shot of the chicken yard. This is half their area and as you can see they aren't crowded by any means!

One of the 'white' roosters that were packaged with Hercule as Delawares. He too has those golden feathers like Hercule.

MollyD--I am still fascinated by your "Delawares". Hercule seems to have too much black on his neck and the degree of yellow is weird. The "pale phase" Delawares have the right markings, but the wrong color. However, my Delphine does have those odd yellowish colored feathers around her dark neck and wing feathers--you just don't notice it because the dark feathers are so much more prominent. It is too bad you can't find others who got their Delawares from the same source at the same time. Maybe the "breeder" has some funky breeding stock that look like Delawares but throw off types.

Wow, Hercule is so handsome! He looks kind of like the light brahma roo that a friend of mine has. Same colors anyway. Very nice looking ducks and chickens!

LOL my thinking was that Hercule is a hybrid between a Delaware and something else. I did find a picture of a white Maran online that looked a lot like my white roos.
Here a link to some

below is a picture of a white Maran which shows the yellow feathers on the white.

Thanks Claire! Hercule Poirot got noticed young because of his mustache. He developed it before he was two weeks old! LOL Funny looking thing on a very young chick!!

Oooh Love your pixs Molly! esp the ducks! Just beginning to learn about the different breeds available. really like those dark ones. Thanks for sharing!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

i have 25 delaware pullets, hoping for 2-3 decent roos in there. coloring will be interesting. they came from a S Texas breeder, unlikely to be the same one though...

sorry bout that, i was typing then my dog Sir Duke started barking. well, i was thinking, the sheriff confiscated that GS meal, she may have come back for more. he noted there were empty dog food bags there, and she was still nursing pups. but no bowls of food out...

anyhow, he was barking at Sam who was feeding the horse. i will edit that, sorry!

i know you love that handsome guy anyhow Molly!

Now, I gotta get in shower, can't handle this heat & am wet already, so why not....lol

Guess I will have to get ducks next spring......sheesh!!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

thanks,t hey are 6 hours away, but i wil call and ask them where the State stands on it instead of waiting till Monday to find out.

Gate (Rochester), WA(Zone 7b)

Hope they can help, or at least give you some direction in recourse options you may have.... sheriff doesn't seem to be able to do all that much..... But, from watching Houston Animal Cops (when I did watch TV), know TX does not put up with this type of behavior.
