whiteflies on poinsettia

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

how do i treat them?

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

A natural pesticide is Neen Oil (most Lowe's have it, HD doesn't)

Any chemical pesticide for plants should work, like Carbyl (Sevin). They are not hard to kill.

They attack coleus too>

Those darn things attack my canna, and even found them trying to lay their eggs on my banana plant. how often will the plants have to be sprayed with the neem oil?

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

Since they breed like flies (:-) I would guess once a week for 2-3 weeks then maybe once a month.

I have them at the nursery and they fly in from the surrounding weeds. I have been mowing and spraying for a month and seem to have cut down on their numbers since I found the host plants.

this photo is just eye candy>

Poinsettia is a magnet for whitefly. The two virtually go hand in hand. You can also try products with imidacloprid, which is systemic, to reduce the amount of spraying you have to do.

ok thanks... i'll use up the neem for now and then look into the systemic thing
