Oh No! Not a new obsession!

Holy Hibiscus Batman! Where has this spot been hiding?
I have a couple of these plants & they are quickly winning their way into my heart & GH.
My friend brought me back one of those packaged "sticks" from Hawaii, I didn't think it would amout to much of anything then it budded up & finally bloomed yesterday. I have 4 plants (Tropical) & this is the only one like this. I do have hardy ones out at the pond. So guess I better come & hang out here to learn exactly what kinds of plants I have! So what kind is this?

Does it have variegated foliage? If the leaves are pink/green/white and the flowers are tiny, it is a snow queen :-)

Welcome to Hibiscus World!

Nope, the leaves are green & not as dark as the larger blooming one. The flower is small (2-2.5" across) compared to the other one I have that blooms. It is amazing the buds are only about 1.5" long, where the heck does that pistil (or staymen???) come from all at once?

BjsBloomers - that is hibiscus schizopetalus - such a wonderfully unusual flower !!! I have had this plant in my greenhouse - I am in Z6a- for years - it seems to be a pretty tough plant - not many plant people have this one - at least not around here - it always generates comments !!!

congrats on having such a beauty

There wasn't any identification on the package that came with it other than Hibiscus. It is unusual & a nice bright flower on my deck. I bring mine out onto the deck in summer & back to the GH first warning of frost.
Z7A is bad enuf, I couldn't imagine living in any colder of a climate. I'm thinking of moving someplace warmer. Tired of snow.
Thank-x for the ID. Bj
