Does anyone know what this Cat is?

He is fennel in the cage.... This is the best shot I could get with my camera

Looks like one of the earlier instars of a Black ST cat.

Thanks Mel....I just wasnt sure because all of the Swallowtail cats look different than that one.....none of them are just black with yellow spots, they all have that band around them.......I figured it might be some sort of SwallowTail though...

thanks again

That one can change a lot with each molt, but I had one not long ago that looked like that.

I see two Black Swallowtail caterpillars in that photo. Good going!!! Bet there's more on the fennel. :o)

Yes, it's definitely a BST. This is one I had that was apparently getting ready for Halloween! I love it when they are different but my favorite is when they are really lime green.

I've never noticed any of mine with spots at that instar size. Only stripes. I'm going to clean my glasses and start taking a closer look.

Wow, none of mine were that color. coolio.

I have 30 plus SwallowTails cats in this cage and this is the only one that looks like this....I am really excited to see what she/he looks like when the transformation is complete....

i know this sounds stupid, but after just raising 9 of these, be sure to mark which chrysalis is that one! I lost track of all of mine after a while, because about 5 of them chose the same exact stick to pupate upon!

LOL....thats a good idea....I will make sure and do that....thanks.

That would be interesting to know if it did look different. I never bothered to keep track. Too many BST's and sometimes would vary too much in how long it took to eclose. (I've still got 3 from early spring and I know better than to give up on them)
